PageMaker to Word (DOCX)

A PageMaker .pmd file as a Unicode Word document laid out page for page like the publication — its boxes, columns, rules and pictures in place — with the PDF made alongside it.

How to use?

Leave it on detect if you are not sure. The ones marked “not yet” will tell you so rather than converting badly.

Kept: Each page as the publication lays it out, as the PDF does: its text boxes and columns in their places, its paragraphs as editable Word paragraphs with PageMaker’s alignment, indents, tab positions and line spacing, font sizes, bold, italic and underline, the rules, boxes and the images in their places, and the page size. The Unicode fonts travel inside the file.

Not kept: Master-page items such as running heads and page numbers, colour, rotation and text wraps. Word wraps each paragraph itself, so most lines break where PageMaker broke them but some take a word more or less.

You get the Word file and a PDF of the same pages, made exactly as the PDF tool makes it.
